Trimester three is right around the corner! Weight gain is at 14 pounds, and I feel pretty good.
I'm definitely starting to feel bigger and less comfortable, though. Sadly, I have had to stop running. I knew that I would eventually stop running, but I thought it would be due to feeling that my stomach was bouncing around too much. Surprisingly, although I do feel a bit bigger, this is not the case. (Who knew my stomach would be so hard? Let's hope pregnancy isn't the only time in my life I'll have rock hard abs...) The real reason I've had to stop running is because my hips were giving me pain. I guess it's all that relaxin hormone working to provide added flexibility to the ligaments in my pelvic area. At any rate, I'm sticking to walking and swimming for now.
Today was the last day for my J&J internship until I head to Cape Town, South Africa in August. To keep me busy until then, I've picked up another job with a start-up company in Westwood that has spun out of UCLA. It's called Bruin Biometrics, and I'll be helping them put together a clinical trial for a device they are developing to detect pressure ulcers.
I'm also going to take a class within the School of Public Health in August. It's a brief seminar in Women's Global Health and Empowerment, and I'm really excited about it. I definitely have plenty of things to do to keep me busy while we wait 14 more weeks for Peanut!
