Vegetarian Thanksgiving Disaster

Well, that one didn't go so well. Jeremy and I managed to poison ourselves while cooking a delicious vegetarian feast for this year's Turkey Day. Really, it was delicious. We had kale and butternut squash, cranberry relish with pears, corn casserole, sweet potatoes with chipotles, and let's not forget that WINE is vegetarian. We had everything but the bird because we didn't feel like cooking it, to be honest. We just saw the family in late October for Parker's birthday, and we're traveling to Philadelphia for Christmas. So we thought it would be fun to just have a small family-style Thanksgiving this year.

And it was fun. We involved Parker in the cooking -- here he is helping to make some apple crumble.

And here is a picture of my plate of food before I ate everything. So many sides, there wasn't really room for turkey. I certainly didn't miss it!

But nothing we do comes without a misadventure! Who gets food poisoning from their own cooking? Especially their own meat-free cooking? Only the Boltanos. What a mess!

At least we didn't gain any weight, though. Right?
